Borrow beautiful views! A well designed garden should make the most of the landscape or ‘urbanscape’ beyond. Consider framing a view with an ‘outside window’ through a trellis or a hedge. A good example of this is shown here at East Ruston Old Vicarage in Norfolk.
Not all views in a garden are good however. Areas of utilitarian clutter, bins and neighbouring houses can generally be hidden with screens and tall planting. However, if this is not an option try adding an attractive focal point elsewhere to draw the eye away.
